The cold facts are easy; born in Port Elizabeth in 1954, married in 1980 (and still very much in love with my wife), father to 3 sons of whom I am very proud, and through them the proud father-in-law to 3 wonderful young women.
I worked for 25 years in the financial sector and the last 15 years have been spent in the wool industry. Since my teenage years I have been actively involved in the life and ministry of whichever church I have attended.
More difficult is to tell you who I am and what drives me in my mind and my spirit and to manage that without false modesty or an inflated ego.
I am a very down to earth and practical person, normally logical and realistic in my thinking and expectations and yet I can be moved to tears by music or the pain of a friend. Humour is also a vital part of my life.
There is very little in life more pleasurable to me than time spent with family or friends and yet I can thoroughly enjoy just spending a whole day in my garage trying to fashion something out of some pieces of wood.
But beyond all this, the driving force of my life is a personal relationship with my Heavenly Father. I love talking to Him and my hope is that this book will help you to a better understanding of who God is and will make it easier for you to spend time with him.
